Theme: Preventing & Preparing for Active Threats on Campus
Morning Session
Topics include a firsthand account and lessons learned from an active shooter survivor, understanding the power of reporting and how it’s preventing violence on the University of Utah’s campus, what every civilian needs to know about the physiological and psychological responses they may have during these types of incidents, what they should do, and what they can expect from the initial police response.
Afternoon Session
Topics include an active shooting case review from the Las Vegas Sheriff’s Office, best practices for creating a friends and family center after a mass casualty incident, inside the decision-making of a multidisciplinary threat assessment team, and understanding how radicalized communities have the potential to influence high-risk individuals along the pathway to violence.
