Major Heather Sturzenegger Graduates from the Prestigious FBI National Academy

The University of Utah Department of Public Safety is proud to celebrate Major Heather Sturzenegger, who recently graduated from the esteemed FBI National Academy Session #296 in Quantico, Virginia. This internationally recognized program brings together a select group of law-enforcement leaders making her selection and successful completion a significant achievement.

Major Sturzenegger excelled throughout the 10-week program, which is designed to strengthen leadership, enhance investigative expertise, and build collaboration across agencies. She joins Chief Keith Squires, a graduate of Session #216, in representing the University of Utah among FBI National Academy alumni.

Chief Squires shared the following reflection:

“Major Sturzenegger distinguished herself throughout her law-enforcement and public safety career. What she has learned and accomplished in her three months at the FBI Academy will benefit our state, our department, and our entire university community greatly. She is a caring and professional leader. Her work in teaching other officers throughout the state is just one measure of her dedication to helping others be successful.”

In addition to her leadership within UUDPS, Major Sturzenegger serves law-enforcement professionals statewide by teaching trauma-informed sexual assault investigations for Utah POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training). Her instruction has strengthened investigative practices and improved survivor-centered response across Utah agencies.

Major Sturzenegger’s commitment to professional excellence, community wellbeing, and elevating the standards of public safety exemplifies the values of our department and the University of Utah.

Please join us in congratulating her on this exceptional milestone and her continued service to our campus and state.
