Game days at Rice-Eccles Stadium are one of the most exciting parts of life at the University of Utah. They bring together students, alumni, faculty, staff, and fans from across the state to cheer on the Utes and celebrate our community spirit.
But with all the excitement, it’s important to remember that our celebrations also impact the neighborhoods surrounding campus. Recently, both University Police and the Salt Lake City Police Department have received an increasing number of concerns from neighbors about disruptive behavior before, during, and after games.
Salt Lake City has even passed a new ordinance that allows homeowners who repeatedly permit disruptive activities to face serious consequences. That’s why we’re reminding all students and fans: We each share the responsibility to represent our university with respect and integrity.
Being a good neighbor means:
- Keeping noise levels reasonable, especially late at night
- Cleaning up after ourselves
- Respecting private property
We all want to celebrate our team’s success—but let’s do it in a way that reflects pride in our school and care for our community. Together, we can ensure that game days remain a positive experience for everyone.
